About the Event

In today’s digital world, students are more connected than ever — through smartphones, social media, gaming platforms, and online learning tools. While technology offers incredible opportunities, it also brings hidden risks.

“Hackers, Scams & Online Safety” is a specially designed cyber awareness session by the Cyber Hygiene Community (CHC) for Class 9 students in Kerala.

This interactive 1.5-hour session equips students with practical knowledge about online threats, safe digital behaviour, and basic cybersecurity practices — empowering them to protect themselves in an increasingly connected world.

The session blends real-life examples, technical insights (age-appropriate), and engaging discussions to help students become responsible digital citizens.

πŸ”Ž Key Topics Covered

  • Who hackers really are — myths vs reality
  • Common online scams targeting students
  • Gaming, phishing & OTP fraud awareness
  • Social engineering and how attackers trick people
  • Safe password practices & Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
  • Mobile and PC security basics
  • Responsible social media behaviour
  • What to do if a cyber incident occurs
  • Introduction to important cybersecurity terms

🎯 Key Takeaways

By the end of the session, students will:

  • Understand how cyber scams work
  • Recognize suspicious links and fake messages
  • Create stronger passwords and enable 2FA
  • Protect their phone, laptop, and social media accounts
  • Practice safe online behaviour daily
  • Know how and when to report cyber incidents
  • Develop a mindset of “Stop – Think – Check – Act”

🌟 Why This Matters

Cyber safety is not just about technology — it’s about awareness, responsibility, and smart choices.

Through this initiative, CHC aims to build digitally aware students who can safeguard not only themselves but also guide their families and peers toward safer internet practices.
